Boys will be boys

Okay, so I have 2 boys and I never saw myself as a mom of boys, I always thought I'd have daughters, but I have to admit that it’s been one incredible journey of learning and fun. My eldest son has just turned 5 and all he put on his birthday list was.... RATS!!! I am sure most woman will agree with me, this really wasn't on my list of "pets" to get in the future, but I braved it and bought him 2 beautiful (to be kind) rats, Beastie and Maleficent. These 2 little things have been the best present I have ever bought him. They have really taught him responsibility and how to care for and think about another being. I did a little research on rats as pets as here's what I found:

1. They are small and easy to care for

2. Rats rarely ever bite

3. They are very smart; some even say they are smarter than dogs!

4. They come in many different colours, making it fun to choose

5. All rats have different personalities, the more time you spend with them the more you get to see these personalities shine through.

6. They are hardy pets, if well cared for they give you very little worry and stress

7. They are very social animals, so pairs are always so sweet to watch

8. Rats do very well in a cage environment; this gives you less cause to worry about mess

9. They are pretty common to come by, and not very expensive to keep

10. They are easy to feed, they like almost everything we like.
